Sitting on the plane on my way back from EFIB, I am reflecting on all the discussions with tens of people enthusiastic about industrial biotechnology and the message of the last panel where Lars Hansen (President, Novozymes, Europe) and Stephan Tanda (Managing Board Member, DSM) said: YES, we can make Europe the leader of bioeconomy and biobased industry.
From the two days intensive program, some take-home messages were:
After an event like EFIB, one is full of ideas what should be done to make the world a better place and the business run even better. Action items conserning the first and last bullet might be the easiest to start with.
I am also happy to have discussed with several of the European industrial biotechnology leaders who see bringing together collective intelligence as a must to make successful and sustainable business.
While waiting to start the follow-up meetings, I look forward to next years meeting, which is organized at the origines of industrial biotechnology and alcohol fermentation, the Champagne.
